Recyclate availability is not sufficient
Despite the current oversupply, future demand in 2030 and beyond is unlikely to be met.
A look into the future: The study "Status quo and forecast of demand and availability of post-consumer recyclates in 2030" shows that the total PCR demand - based on legally required minimum input quantities and market-related demand quantities - is unlikely to be met.
In the recently published study, the status quo of recyclate demand and recyclate availability in 2030 is described using a two-scenario model. The calculation is based on future legal requirements in the form of recyclate utilisation quotas and market-related demand volumes in individual industries. The data determined in both scenario models shows supply gaps in EU27+3 and Germany.
